We’re proud to share the amazing work of our Oakwater advisory team, our latest featured group of Harbourfront Heroes! The team has been supporting the Ronald McDonald House Charity for years and has made various contributions to improve the play area for the kids and support their Christmas toy initiative. The team has also cooked breakfast and dinner multiple times for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House.
In 2021, the team participated in “Light the House” at the Ronald MacDonald House, where they sponsored a Christmas tree for a family to decorate. They had a ton of fun coming together to think of a theme for the tree, picking out the ornaments and décor, and even involving their clients by making a beautiful ribbon with their names on it. With the top-up from Harbourfront Gives Foundation, the team was able to provide a fantastic experience for “their family” as they decorated a Christmas tree for the holiday season.
This experience inspired the team to continue spreading the good feelings and warm hearts through Christmas and beyond. Instead of simply delivering gifts to their clients in December 2022, the Oakwater team decided to give back to three charities on their clients’ behalf: Foundry Langley, Pacific Riding for Developing Abilities, and the Battered Women’s Society. Harbourfront Gives Foundation matched each donation, amplifying their reach substantially and making it more beneficial for each foundation with a heartwarming feeling of togetherness for their clients and members of the team.
Most recently, the Oakwater team had the pleasure of organizing a Mexican Fiesta for the families staying at Ronald McDonald House. They went all out, sending in a mouth-watering menu and hitting the grocery store with gusto. As they cooked up a storm, the delicious smells filled the air and families gathered around the table, ready to dig in. It was heartwarming to see the smiles on their faces as they enjoyed the food, laughter, and conversation. For this team of Harbourfront Heroes, it was a truly fulfilling experience to give back to the community in such a meaningful way and are grateful to have been a part of it.
