Danny Popescu

Founder and Director
Harbourfront Wealth Management CEO Danny Popescu established the Harbourfront Gives Foundation as a way to lift up people in need, give back to the community and improve the world around him.

The Harbourfront Gives Foundation combines the charitable talent and giving power of the whole Harbourfront team to raise money for a range of charities. Beneficiaries include organizations supporting health, children, education and community development, both locally and around the world. As of August 2023, the Harbourfront Gives Foundation has donated over $500,000 to 65 charitable organizations.

Danny’s support for the Harbourfront Gives Foundation is active in every sense. In 2006, in an effort to raise funds and awareness for the British Columbia Children’s Hospital, he climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak. He has also raced in the Test of Metal, a 67-kilometer bicycle race along the mountain roads of British Columbia, to help the Canadian Diabetes Association raise funds for diabetes treatment and research.

In addition to his role as founder and director of the Harbourfront Gives Foundation, Danny manages all operations of Harbourfront Wealth Management. He directs all operations of the Vancouver-based firm, including its IIROC member investment dealer, asset management firm, and U.S. investment divisions which are regulated by other agencies.

He launched the company in 2013 with an $11 million personal investment. His goal was to bring pension-type investment vehicles, such as private equity, private real estate and private credit, to Canadian retail investors. By 2022, the enterprise value of the investment firm had risen to $425 million, when the Boston-based private equity firm Audax Group bought a stake in the company.

With roughly 300 employees in 28 branches across Canada, Harbourfront Wealth Management is one of the fastest growing independent dealers in Canada. The company is now on track to reach a $1.5 billion enterprise value by 2027.

Before founding Harbourfront, Danny built and managed one of Vancouver’s largest private wealth management practices. By the time he was 32 years old, he ranked as the number one advisor at Canada’s largest asset management firm.

At 33 years of age, Danny became a partner at a national investment firm. At age 39 he was named one of Business in Vancouver’s Top Forty under 40. At age 46 he was named one of Canada’s Top 50 Industry Leaders of 2021 by Wealth Professional.

In business and philanthropy, Danny Popescu believes in bringing prosperity, security and opportunity to individuals and families in Vancouver, throughout British Columbia and across Canada. He is not simply a CEO or director, but an active leader whose talent, enthusiasm, and creativity are key to the success of each mission he undertakes.
